FIRE LIGHT FIRE BRIGHT

Fire Light Fire Bright was my first novel to be published. The main character, Dodge Brewster is sheriff of the small north central Texas town of Glenwood which is located near Granbury, Stephenville, Lipan, Morgan Mill, Mineral Wells, etc. You won’t find in on any map though, because I totally made it up.

I borrowed the name Dodge from a cute little boy who used to come into my husbands small restaurant/pizza place. He always ordered a corny dog. He was so polite and a real joy to be around. His mother gave me permission to use his name and the story of her pregnancy where she “dodged a lot of bullets” having him.

In the book, Glenwood is being terrorized by an arsonist who is slowly and methodically burning the town to ashes, acre by scorched acre. And as if that’s not enough to keep the sheriff’s office busy, teenage girls are being raped and killed.

Some of the other interesting characters include a Veteran from the Viet Nam Conflict who lives in the woods. Townfolks call him Rambo and want him arrested for the arson and the rapes. Then there’s the assistant fire chief who used a forged letter of recommendation and lied to get the job. The mayor who thinks she is the boss of everyone in town, Then there’s the teenage girl who has a fight with her boyfriend and wrecks her car just a few days before graduation. Oh, how about the deputy sheriff who writes and sings country music and thinks he’s going to be the next American Idol.

That’s only a few. Fire Light Fire Bright is full of colorful characters that I know you will love as much as I do. If you haven’t read any of my books, Fire Light Fire Bright is a good place to start. Happy Reading!!!

When Elsie decided to try her hand at writing a novel, Fire Light Fire Bright was born followed by Dreams Never Lie -which quickly became her publisher’s first Best-Selling Series. The Color of Thunder was published right between Dreams are Forever and Shattered Dreams. Elsie was born in Brooksville, Florida. Some of her fondest memories were swimming at Pine Island in the nearby Gulf of Mexico. Weeki Wachee Springs is where she learned to swim. In the early 1980’s, Elsie and her three children, Katie, Lisa G. and Jes moved to Texas. Shortly after moving to North Central Texas, Elsie met her husband Ronnie on a blind date and after a whirlwind courtship, they married in April 1987. After 34 years, they're still going strong.
